The brief.
Delivered asSite Clearance, Fencing, Hard Surfacing
The landlord of a parcel of land on Springwell Road and Water Lane in Holbeck wanted it cleared and secured so it could be let as controlled parking. We set out the options: general clearance, vegetation removal, perimeter fencing, access gates, and the right aggregates for a sub-base and wearing course. Once the scheme was approved we put polite notices on every car already parked on the plot, giving warning of the start date.
It was a group effort. Our sister companies Brownridge Transport and Barriers for Hire secured the perimeter before anything else moved. A tree surgeon took out the overgrown trees and dense vegetation, then we cleared the ground, demolished the remaining walls and graded the site. The 2.4m palisade went in around the perimeter using a breaker attachment on a JCB, the low areas were built up with compacted MOT Type 1, and tarmac scalpings went down as a compacted wearing course. Fox Doors, also part of the group, fabricated extended drop bolts for the gates on site and set sleeves into the ground so the gates lock safely and securely.
Where there had been a liability, there is now a secure, usable plot and an asset earning the landlord a controlled income. On the back of it, the landlord instructed us to carry out similar works on a second, smaller site.
