The brief.

Kings Business Park needed its central pond walkway put right, and quickly. The timber decking boards had degraded badly, and the original timber substructure was slowly tipping towards the water. For the people who work on the park and visit it, that was a real and growing safety risk.
Rather than patch it and come back in a few years, we engineered and proposed a complete upgrade to a high-specification composite system, chosen for long-term structural integrity, durability and low maintenance.
The old frame was already leaning into the pond, so it was carefully stabilised before it was taken apart. The new composite substructure will not rot in a permanently damp setting. The thicker composite profiles also needed careful detailing where deck meets ground, so we re-profiled the adjacent land and fitted vertical tongue-and-groove fascia skirting, giving a continuous transition from ground to deck and clean lines along the whole perimeter.
