The hardest part of resurfacing a commercial site is rarely the tarmac. It is keeping the site working while it happens. On a busy commercial site in Hunslet, the area that needed resurfacing was the main entrance and exit, so we split the work into three visits: planing out 150mm across about 175 square metres and carting it away, then machine laying the binder course, then the surface course. The site kept operating throughout.

For a managing agent in east Leeds we took up around 300 square metres of flags along the shop fronts and relaid the area in tarmac, then resurfaced the rear car park in two courses across roughly 600 square metres, lifting and resetting every manhole along the way. We finished it with thermoplastic lining for the parking bays, the bin area and the lettering the agent asked for.

It is not only tarmac. We lay aggregate surfaces where a site needs a hard-wearing finish at lower cost, block paving and flags where appearance matters, and resin-bound and rubber safety surfacing for playgrounds and pathways. At a school in Horsforth, a playground that held standing water was dug out and resin surfaced to fall to the drains, in two weeks. We have also turned tired corners of car parks into usable outdoor seating.

The softer side of an external space matters just as much to a first impression. We lay turf for office grounds and larger green areas, plant and build flower beds that make an entrance look looked-after, and supply and install outdoor seating and furniture. Where the surface ties into drainage, kerbs or fencing, the same team handles that too, and our grounds team can keep it maintained afterwards.

Why bring us in for landscaping & hard surfacing.

01

Phased to stay open

Entrances, yards and car parks resurfaced in sections, so your site keeps trading while we work.

02

Laid in proper courses

Planing, binder course and surface course as separate stages, so the new surface is built for the traffic it actually gets.

03

Marked out at the end

Bays, walkways and lettering marked on completion by the same team, not a separate contractor weeks later.

Questions we get asked.

Can you resurface our car park without closing it?

Yes. We work in sections so part of the car park stays usable, or we work outside your operating hours. We will agree the phasing with you before we start.

Should we resurface, or just patch it?

It depends how much of the surface has failed. Potholes and broken edges can often be patched well. Once cracking and break-up are widespread, a resurface is usually better value over the life of the surface. We will look at it and tell you which.

Can you do the line marking as well?

Yes. Parking bays, disabled and EV bays, walkways, loading areas and lettering, marked once the new surface is down. Our line marking page has the detail.

Can you do the soft landscaping as well as the hard surfaces?

Yes. Turf, planting, flower beds and outdoor furniture, alongside the paving and surfacing, so the whole external space is finished by one contractor. Our grounds team can maintain it afterwards on a schedule.

Do you cover our area?

We work from two offices, our head office at Hunslet in Leeds and a second in Manchester, and between them they cover a band straight across the country: the North West, all of Yorkshire and the Humber, and the north Midlands down to Stoke, Derby and Nottingham. That is our day-to-day patch and most of our work is in it. Beyond that we regularly work in the North East, Cumbria and the Central Belt, and down through the wider Midlands, East Anglia and the South East, and we have delivered projects as far as Bristol.
