A family business that grew into a building company.
Commercial Property Refurb Ltd was born from the building works carried out across the family's own estate portfolio. What began as in-house work on the family's own buildings grew, over the years, into a commercial contractor in its own right.
Over thirty years of that experience now sit behind every job. We have grown to a multi-trade team and dozens of staff, working out of the same yard and managing every job from one programme, for landlords, occupiers, agents and developers across Yorkshire.
Most of our work is repeat or referred. We never had a sales team and we never plan to. The next job comes from the last one.

From horse and cart to commercial construction.

Where it began
The Brownridge story starts in Leeds, with Thomas William Brownridge delivering milk and hauling coal around the city by horse and cart.

Distance no object
A light-haulage company is established from a yard at Vinery View, Leeds, built on the motto: distance no object.

Arthur Brownridge & Son
The family's haulage business is formally incorporated as Arthur Brownridge & Son Ltd.
- 1995
Bridge Estates
The family's commercial property venture, Bridge Estates, starts up, and with it the foundations of Commercial Property Refurb Ltd.

Barriers for Hire
Barriers for Hire is established, specialising in the hire, rental and sale of concrete interlocking security blocks. Stay secure, day and night.
- 2013
Commercial Property Refurb Ltd
Commercial Property Refurb Ltd is incorporated to focus on third-party works, taking the family's building expertise to clients beyond the group's own estate.
- 2017
Fox joins the group
The group acquires Fox Industrial Doors, adding industrial doors, shutters and security products to its capabilities.
