Flat roofs fail at the details: the upstands, the outlets, the edges and anywhere the roof meets a wall or a roof light. We survey the whole roof, including the deck underneath, before recommending a repair, an overlay or a replacement, because a new covering laid over a rotten deck is money thrown away.
We work in single ply membranes, built-up felt, mastic asphalt and liquid applied systems, and we specify the one that suits the building rather than the one we happen to prefer. A roof with lots of penetrations and awkward details often suits a liquid system; a large, simple roof often suits single ply.
At Pickering, on a retail dilapidations job, the large rear flat roof was cleaned off, boarded in new plywood and re-felted as part of making the building weathertight before it was handed back ready to let.

Questions we get asked.
Can our flat roof be overlaid rather than stripped?
Often, if the existing deck and insulation are sound. Overlaying avoids the cost and disruption of a full strip. We check the deck on survey and tell you whether it will take an overlay.
Which flat roof system is best?
It depends on the roof. Single ply suits large, simple roofs, liquid systems suit roofs with lots of penetrations and complicated details, and felt and asphalt remain sound choices in the right place. We will explain the reasoning for your roof in the quote.
Can you just repair our flat roof?
If the problem is localised, yes. Splits, failed upstands and blocked outlets can often be repaired well. If the covering has failed across the roof, a replacement is usually better value, and we will tell you which.
Do you cover our area?
We work from two offices, our head office at Hunslet in Leeds and a second in Manchester, and between them they cover a band straight across the country: the North West, all of Yorkshire and the Humber, and the north Midlands down to Stoke, Derby and Nottingham. That is our day-to-day patch and most of our work is in it. Beyond that we regularly work in the North East, Cumbria and the Central Belt, and down through the wider Midlands, East Anglia and the South East, and we have delivered projects as far as Bristol.
